Wow, it's hard to believe that October is almost over! The month just flew by!
Lots has been happening in the library.
I am continuing to work on getting the books categorized, cataloged, and organized.
Now that our bins have arrived, I have started organizing each section in Non-Fiction by Dewey Decimal number. As a JK to Grade 12 library we want to make sure everyone has easy access to books at their level.
Earlier this month, the grades 9-12 students went on a field trip to the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus Library. We learned all about how to access their online resources and took a tour of the library.
The UTM Library resources are available for the students to use. They simply sign up for a guest pass when they arrive and they can access resources online and on the shelves.
We also started our Library Visits. The JKs and a class from Oakwood were the first to visit. The grade 4s visited today. On their first visit we read "Wild About Books" and talked about the library. We then explored all the books. Next week we will do an activity and then we get to sign out a book to borrow and bring home to read! That's very exciting!
We also had some Book Buddies visit this week. It was wonderful to see everyone sharing a love of reading together.
Even the teachers got involved (after all, Teachers are Readers, too!) Here, Miss Bannon and Mr. Grewal try to solve a puzzle about flowers.
As you can see, the library has been quite a busy place and there's still a lot more excitement to come.
